Granuloma reparativo periférico de células gigantes: a propósito de un caso / Peripheral giant cell reparative granuloma: a case report

El granuloma reparativo periférico de células gigantes es una lesión tumoral benigna que aparece como respuesta exuberante de los tejidos ante una agresión local. Presentamos el caso de una mujer de la raza negra de 34 años de edad que acude a la consulta de cirugía máxilo-facial con un aumento de volumen en el reborde alveolar superior derecho. Se realizan exámenes de laboratorio y radiográficos. La paciente es operada bajo anestesia general donde se realiza la excéresis de la lesión y examen histopatológico de la pieza. El informe del departamento de anatomía patológica corrobora el diagnóstico presuntivo de granuloma reparativo periférico de células gigantes. La evolución de la paciente fue satisfactoria.

The peripheral giant cell reparative granuloma is a benign tumor that appears as an exuberant response of tissue in the face of a local aggression. A case of a black woman of 34 years of age that goes to the maxillofacial doctor’s office with an increase of volume in the right superior alveolar rim is presented. X-ray examinations of laboratory are carried out. The patient is operated under general anaesthesia. The exeresis of the injury and histopathologic exam of the piece are done. The report of the department of pathological anatomy corroborates the presumptive diagnosis of peripheral giant cell reparative granuloma. The evolution of the patient was satisfactory.

Carcinoma bilateral de Células Acinares en parótidas: presentación de dos casos / Bilateral acinic cell carcinoma of the Parotid gland: a two case report

Se presentan dos pacientes hermanos con tumoraciones parotídeas, que fueron operados en el Hospital Provincial Docente “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola”. A los mismos se les realizó parotidectomía total conservadora, previa biopsia por congelación, siendo el resultado histopatológico Carcinoma de Células Acinares. Aproximadamente a los cinco años, ambos son reintervenidos por presentar tumoraciones parotídeas en el lado opuesto, por lo que se sometieron a una nueva parotidectomía total conservadora; el resultado histopatológico fue igual al anterior. No hubo complicaciones postoperatorias y la evolución a largo plazo fue favorable.

Two siblings patients with malignant tumors of the parotid are presented, both of them underwent conservative complete parotidectomy with previous biopsy by freezing at the “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola” provincial teaching hospital . The histopathological result revealed acinic cell carcinoma. At roughly five years later, both of them underwent surgery again for displaying tumors in the opposite side of the parotid , for this reason they underwent a new conservative complete parotidectomy; the histopathological result was the same as the previous one. No postoperative complications were encountered and long term evolution was favorable.

Dens in dente o diente invaginado es un defecto de desarrollo dentario que tiene su origen en la invaginación de la superficie coronaria de un diente antes de que ocurra su calcificación. Se presenta un paciente pediátrico con antecedentes de proceso fistuloso buco – facial, que fue atendido en el Hospital Provincial Docente “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola”. Al mismo se le realizó un cuidadoso examen físico que determinó una causa odontógena del proceso inflamatorio crónico y luego se le indicó un estudio radiográfico que detectó la presencia de dens in dente en ambos incisivos centrales superiores, lo que impuso la necesidad de someter a tratamiento quirúrgico ambos dientes afectados por diente u odontoma invaginado. No hubo complicaciones postoperatorias y la evolución a largo plazo fue favorable.

Dens in dente or invaginated tooth is a defect of dental development arising as a result of invagination of the coronary surface of the tooth before calcification takes place. One pediatric pacient with history of oral-facial fistula process is presented, who was assisted at the "Antonio Luaces Iraola" provincial teaching hospital. A careful physical examination was concomitantly done to determine the odontogenic cause of the chronic inflammatory process and soon a radiographic study was indicated , which detected the presence of dens in dente in both upper central incisors, imposing the necessity of surgical treatment for both teeth affected by dens invaginatus or odontome. No postoperative complications were encountered, and his long term evolution was favorable.
